As Montreal slowly recovers from its first arctic cold snap of the winter, the city announced on Friday the measures it has in place to help local homeless stay warm.

A total of 925 emergency beds — 740 of them for men — are available at shelters including the Maison du Père, the Mission Bon Accueil, the Old Brewery Mission, the Projets autochtones du Québec, the Pavillon Patricia Mackenzie, La Rue des femmes, le Chaînon, the Salvation Army and the Maison Marguerite.

Another 65 beds are being offered for homeless youths by the Refuge des jeunes de Montréal, the Bunker run by Dans la rue, and En Marge 12-17.
