More people relied food banks in 2017 than during the 2008 recession.

The Ottawa Food Bank crunched the provincial and national numbers for the Ottawa Hunger Report 2017: Fighting Hunger.

In the Ottawa, the number of people turning to community food banks rose by 5.6 per cent in 2017 compared to 2016.

The report also showed that 50 per cent of people accessing emergency food services are single adults who are living alone.
