Number of people experiencing homelessness in Guelph, Wellington on the decline
The number of people experiencing homelessness in Guelph and Wellington has dropped significantly over the past year.
That’s according to the annual report for the Guelph-Wellington 20,000 Homes Campaign, which found a 38-per-cent decrease in the number of people without steady housing between April 2016 and October 2017.
The report also noted that 117 people with a high amount of need were able to be placed in homes during that time.
The campaign is part of a national effort “focused on ending chronic homelessness in 20 communities and housing 20,000 of Canada’s most vulnerable homeless people by July 1, 2020,” according to a news release announcing the report’s findings.
